With an eye for the singular and a penchant for rarities of the bridal persuasion, Abditory is an Australian vintage bridal boutique specialising in one-of-a-kind wedding gowns, veils and intimates from the 1930s through to the 1990s.
For the woman behind the collection, an appreciation for vintage began early. Her earliest introduction came courtesy of a dress-up box shared with her three sisters, filled with the contents of their mother’s and grandmother’s wardrobes. Lace gloves, beaded purses, silk scarves and all manner of romantic old things. Years later, the search for her own wedding gown proved far more difficult than she had imagined, particularly when the pieces she coveted were so elusive in Australia.
This journey led to the birth of ‘Abditory’, inspired by an old word for a secret place where precious things are hidden.
Curated in Northern New South Wales, Abditory combines an appreciation for the finery of past eras with a contemporary eye, meticulously sourcing rare vintage bridal, piece by beautiful piece. No allegiance to a particular decade or designer, simply an affection for very good vintage.
Each garment is an invitation to embrace sustainability, to find beauty in what has been passed down, and to honour the artistry behind each piece.
