Frequently asked questions

Vintage dresses were made to the sizing standards of their time, which can differ quite a bit from modern sizing.
Many older gowns run smaller than what we’re used to today, so sizing is something we’re conscious of when sourcing. Even so, vintage sizing can vary widely from piece to piece, which is why we always recommend referring to the garment measurements rather than the labelled size alone.
Every listing includes detailed measurements so you can compare them with your own.

Antique and vintage pieces may show signs of age, and we take great care in restoring them to ensure they are ready to be worn and loved again. You may notice slight patinas on silk, tiny pulls or fraying lace, and some fabrics like satin or organza may show subtle signs of ageing. Beading or embroidery may also have minor fading or loosening over time.
These imperfections are part of the item’s history, adding to its character and charm. Any noticeable imperfections will always be clearly described in the item listing.

Your piece has been carefully cleaned and will arrive ready to wear. After shipping, it may just need a light steam to release any wrinkles. Use distilled water only on the lowest setting and from a distance, placing a clean white cloth between the steamer and the garment to help protect delicate fabrics from water marks.
For storage, keep your piece somewhere cool, dry and away from direct sunlight, ideally in a breathable garment bag where appropriate.
For any future cleaning or restoration, we recommend taking it to a professional who is experienced with vintage and delicate fabrics. A little care goes a long way in keeping your piece beautiful for years to come.
