c. 1940s Ivory Satin Wedding Gown with Wax Blossoms & Lace-Panelled Cathedral Train
A breathtaking 1940s ivory satin wedding gown, with sweeping lacework and a train that seems to go on forever.
The bodice is softly gathered and has lace curves over the shoulders and around the waist before falling in long panels through the skirt, giving the gown the most beautiful elongated shape. The long satin sleeves are softly gathered through the arm, with all that luminous ivory satin catching the light as it moves.
At the back, a long row of satin-covered buttons runs from the neckline through the waist before the skirt spills into an extraordinary sweeping train. The lace continues with it, travelling the full length of the gown and out across the train in these beautiful uninterrupted lines.
And tucked into the gathered satin at the bust, a delicate row of original wax orange blossoms nestled at its centre. Still sitting exactly where they were placed all those decades ago. There is something impossibly romantic about that.

CONDITION
We take a lot of care with the condition of our vintage pieces. Each garment is cleaned and carefully inspected, but vintage will naturally show signs of age and previous wear. With that in mind, please review the condition notes below:
Beautifully revived, with gentle signs of age and a some faint discolouration remaining.
CARE
Your piece has been carefully cleaned and will arrive ready to wear. After shipping, it may just need a light steam to release any wrinkles. Use only distilled water on the lowest setting and from a distance, placing a clean white cloth between the steamer and the garment to help protect delicate fabrics from water marks.
For storage, keep your piece somewhere cool, dry and away from direct sunlight, ideally in a breathable garment bag where appropriate.
For any future cleaning or restoration, we recommend taking it to a professional who is experienced with vintage and delicate fabrics. A little care goes a long way in keeping your piece beautiful for years to come.
