c. 1930s Ivory Satin Bridal Gown with Pearlwork & Sweeping Train

$2,680.00

1930s ivory satin bridal gown, bias cut through the skirt with softly gathered sleeves, hand-beaded pearl floral appliqués and an extraordinary sweeping train.

The bodice gathers softly beneath the rounded neckline, finished with a delicate gathered collar and tiny hand-beaded pearl flowers across the front. The pearlwork is an especially rare detail for a 1930s bridal gown, with each flower individually worked in tiny beads. Long sleeves fall full through the shoulder and arm before gathering into deep fitted cuffs.

From the high fitted waist, the satin is cut on the bias, falling fluidly over the body and opening gently towards the floor. That long, uninterrupted line continues far behind into a sweeping train, with the bias cut giving the satin its beautiful drape and movement.

Tiny satin-covered buttons run down the centre back to the waist, while the silhouette falls long and fluid through the skirt.

A wonderfully romantic piece of 1930s bridal, with all the details you hope to find from the era: bias-cut satin, billowing sleeves, rare hand-beaded pearl flowers and that incredible length behind.

CONDITION

We take a lot of care with the condition of our vintage pieces. Each garment is cleaned, revived and carefully inspected, but vintage will naturally show signs of age and previous wear. With that in mind, please review the condition notes below:

A truly beautiful gown with some gentle aged-related wear and discolouration to the satin on close inspection. There is one localised area of colour loss, which appears lighter in certain light along with a small pull. Both are shown in the photos.

CARE

Your piece has been carefully cleaned and will arrive ready to wear. After shipping, it may just need a light steam to release any wrinkles. Use only distilled water on the lowest setting and from a distance, placing a clean white cloth between the steamer and the garment to help protect delicate fabrics from water marks.

For storage, keep your piece somewhere cool, dry and away from direct sunlight, ideally in a breathable garment bag where appropriate.

For any future cleaning or restoration, we recommend taking it to a professional who is experienced with vintage and delicate fabrics. A little care goes a long way in keeping your piece beautiful for years to come.
