c. 1940s Ivory Satin Bolero Wedding Gown with Bow Appliqués
A remarkable 1940s ivory satin wedding gown, with a softly gathered bodice framed by an attached bolero and two incredible satin bows worked across the skirt.
The bolero is original to the gown and sewn into its construction, edged in gathered satin with long sleeves and softly shaped shoulders. Against the simplicity of the ivory satin, two oversized satin bow appliqués sweep across the skirt. Each is formed from gathered satin and sewn onto the gown, with long ribboned ends trailing towards the hem.
It is such a rare piece of detailing to find on bridal from this era. The scale of the bows against the otherwise simple satin is what makes this gown so striking, romantic and completely its own.

CONDITION
We take a lot of care with the condition of our vintage pieces. Each garment is cleaned, revived and carefully inspected, but vintage will naturally show signs of age and previous wear. With that in mind, please review the condition notes below:
Beautifully revived, with gentle signs of age, a few faint surface impressions to the satin and a small darned repair to the back, as pictured.
Finished with two satin belt loops at the waist; the gown was sourced without a belt.
CARE
Your piece has been carefully cleaned and will arrive ready to wear. After shipping, it may just need a light steam to release any wrinkles. Use only distilled water on the lowest setting and from a distance, placing a clean white cloth between the steamer and the garment to help protect delicate fabrics from water marks.
For storage, keep your piece somewhere cool, dry and away from direct sunlight, ideally in a breathable garment bag where appropriate.
For any future cleaning or restoration, we recommend taking it to a professional who is experienced with vintage and delicate fabrics. A little care goes a long way in keeping your piece beautiful for years to come.
